Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data the Talk to Jesus app and this website process, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it plainly and to describe what the app actually does, including the parts we are still improving.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Presentmania s.r.o., Korunní 2569/108, 101 00 Praha 10, Czech Republic, company ID (IČO) 08175641 (“we”, “us”). Contact for anything about privacy: info@bornagainyouth.com.

The short version

  • Talk to Jesus is an AI voice companion. The voice you hear is AI, provided through our voice partner ElevenLabs.
  • We do not keep recordings or transcripts of your conversations on our own servers. Our voice provider processes and transcribes each call, and at the moment its transcript retention is switched on, so the provider keeps a transcript on its systems. We are working to turn this off.
  • For your account we keep your first name and email address. We use analytics (Mixpanel) and push notifications (OneSignal).
  • Prayer requests you post are read by a person before they appear on the Prayer Wall.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time.

What we collect and why

Your account

When you create an account we collect your first name, your email address and a password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase; we never see your password in plain text). We use them to run your account, to show your first name where you choose to share it, and to contact you about your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

“What brings you here today?”

During onboarding you can pick one or more reasons, such as “I feel alone” or “I’m overwhelmed”. We store which options you picked (not free text) on your device and with your account, and send them to our analytics and push tools so the app can suggest fitting content and reminders. These answers can say something about your beliefs or how you feel. Legal basis: your explicit consent given by choosing to answer (Art. 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it by deleting your account or writing to us.

Voice conversations

When you tap Start talking, your voice is streamed to ElevenLabs, which turns speech into text, generates the reply and speaks it back. The transcript is shown to you in the app during the call and is not saved by the app or on our servers. On our servers we keep only call details: a conversation ID, the start and end time and how many minutes you used, so we can apply the daily time allowance. On your device the app remembers the conversation ID, the topic and when it ended.

Please note: ElevenLabs currently retains conversation transcripts on its systems, and deleting your Talk to Jesus account does not yet delete them there. We are working to switch this retention off and will update this policy when it is done. Please do not share anything in a call that you would not want stored by a service provider.

Legal basis: performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). What you say may reveal your religious beliefs or health; by starting a conversation you explicitly consent to this processing for the purpose of the conversation (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR).

Prayer Wall

If you post a prayer request we store its text (up to 1,000 characters), whether you chose to share it with your first name, anonymously or privately, its status and dates. A person on our team reads every request before it appears on the wall; this includes requests you mark as private. On the wall your name appears as your first name and the initial of your last name if you have one on your account, or not at all if you post anonymously. Others can tap to show they are praying for you. If three different people report a request, it goes back for review. When you delete a request it disappears from the wall; we keep the record hidden for moderation and abuse prevention until your account is deleted.

Legal basis: performance of our contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and your explicit consent to publish what you share (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR).

Shared prayer links

You can share a link to your prayer request. The public page shows the request and your first name (or “Someone”) and stops working after 30 days. It is marked so search engines do not index it. When a visitor who is not signed in taps “I’m praying”, we set a cookie called tj_anon containing a random identifier, valid for one year, so the same browser is not counted twice. To prevent abuse we process the visitor’s IP address: it is hashed with a key that changes daily, used for rate limiting and deleted after 10 minutes (for page views) or 30 days (for prayer taps). The page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots, which receives the visitor’s IP address. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running the page safely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); the cookie is strictly necessary for the feature the visitor asked for.

Analytics

We use Mixpanel (EU data residency) to understand how the app is used, for example which screens are opened, whether a call started, or whether a prayer was saved. Analytics events never contain the words you say or type; for prayer requests we record only their length. Your analytics profile is linked to your account ID and includes your email, first name, sign-up date, some of your onboarding answers (for the questions about faith, how you feel and your relationship with God we record only whether you answered, never the answer), whether you have Talk to Jesus Plus, and usage counts (such as minutes used, streaks and whether you have given a gift). Automatic collection of device events is switched off. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). There is not yet a switch in the app to turn analytics off; until there is, you can object by writing to us and we will stop analytics for your account.

Reminders and push notifications

If you choose a reminder time, the app asks for permission to send notifications. We use OneSignal to deliver them (on Android through Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging). OneSignal receives your account ID, your email, your device’s push token and the reminder time and first onboarding reason you chose. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw in your phone’s settings or by turning reminders off.

Gifts

Optional gifts are one-time in-app purchases processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive your payment details. We record only that you have given a gift and when. A gift does not unlock any features.

Anonymous statistics from the welcome questions

When you finish the welcome questions, the app sends your answers to our server once as an anonymous record, so we can understand what brings people here and how we can serve them better. The record contains the answers, the day (no time), your phone’s region and language, the app version, whether you then started Plus or continued for free, and, if known, the advertising campaign that brought you (for example an Apple Search Ads campaign or keyword). It contains no account ID, name, email or device identifier, and it cannot be connected back to you or to your account. We look at these records only in totals.

Talk to Jesus Plus

Plus is an optional subscription bought through Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), which process the payment under their own terms and privacy policies; we do not receive your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check and keep track of your subscription: RevenueCat receives your account ID and the purchase information from Apple or Google (product, price, currency, trial and renewal dates, store country). On our servers we keep whether you have Plus, the plan and its dates, so the app can give you the Plus time allowance and audio. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). To measure which Apple Search Ads campaigns lead to new users, the app passes Apple’s attribution token (provided by Apple’s AdServices framework, without your advertising identifier) to RevenueCat; we do not show ads in the app and do not use your data to target advertising.

On your device

The app stores your sign-in session securely on your device and keeps some local information, such as which guided prayers you listened to and how often. The Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show only Scripture; they make no network requests and use no personal data.

This website

The pages of www.bornagainyouth.com use no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. The only exception is shared prayer pages (addresses starting with /p/), described above under “Shared prayer links”. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical data such as your IP address in server logs to deliver the site and keep it secure. The website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which stores no cookies and works only with anonymised visit data.

How long we keep it

  • Account data, call details, prayer requests and onboarding answers: until you delete your account.
  • Shared prayer links: 30 days. Hashed IP addresses: 10 minutes to 30 days, as described above.
  • When you delete your account we permanently delete it from our database and ask OneSignal and Mixpanel to delete your data. A log that the deletion took place is kept for 90 days, and notes our moderators made about a prayer request may be kept. Our providers’ security and request logs are kept for their own short retention periods.
  • Conversation transcripts at ElevenLabs are currently not deleted when you delete your account (see above).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw any consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. To use these rights, write to info@bornagainyouth.com. You can delete your account yourself in the app under Profile → Account → Delete account. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority, in the Czech Republic the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.gov.cz), or the authority where you live.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, sign-in sessions are stored in your device’s secure storage, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please avoid sharing more than you need to.

Not for emergencies

Talk to Jesus is not emergency care, medical advice or therapy. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988. Elsewhere, contact your local emergency number.

Changes

We will update this policy when the app changes and change the date at the top.
