Prayers for what you’re carrying

Healing for someone you love, protection for your family, peace when anxiety won’t let go, rest at night, guidance for a decision, forgiveness for what you can’t undo. Each page has a short prayer you can pray right now, a longer one, and Scripture to hold on to.

How to use these prayers

You don’t need the right words to pray. Jesus taught his friends to talk to God as a Father who is listening, simply and honestly (Matthew 6:9–13). These prayers are a place to start, not a script you have to get right.

  • Start with the short prayer. When you’re worn out or short on time, one short prayer, prayed honestly, is enough.
  • Use real names. Where you see “(name)”, say the name of the person you’re praying for, and tell God the specific thing you’re worried about.
  • Pray out loud if you can. Saying a prayer slows your thoughts down and helps you mean what you say.
  • Stay with the Scripture. Each page includes verses from the World English Bible. Read them slowly, and take one line with you into the day.
  • Don’t carry it alone. Share what you’re facing with your church, a pastor or a friend you trust. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988.

And when the words run out, that’s okay. Scripture says the Spirit helps us in our weakness, when we don’t know how to pray as we ought (Romans 8:26).

The app

Pray out loud with Talk to Jesus.

Talk to Jesus is a prayer app for iPhone and Android, free to download. Tap Start talking, say what you are carrying the way you would pray, and hear a calm voice shaped by the Gospels. The voice is AI. It is not Jesus, and it never replaces prayer, Scripture or your church.

  • Guided prayers to listen to when you are worried, need forgiveness, want peace or can’t sleep.
  • Prayer Wall to share a request with your name or as “Someone”. Every request is read by a person before it appears.
  • Bible verse widget with a new verse every morning on your iPhone Home Screen and Lock Screen.

Scripture quotations are from the World English Bible (WEB), which is in the public domain.
